Park City Utah, 2008: An female agent that I know once called me in a panic and said: "I have to go Sundance this year. I hate the cold, I hate the snow! What do I wear? How on Earth does one look cute in Sundance?"
Well the answer is quite simple. You don't. That place is cold as all hell so forget fashion at a time like this. Just stay warm. As long as your outfit begins with thermals and ends with snowpants and a down jacket, who cares what you're wearing in between because no one will ever see it. In fact, sometimes you just need to be outrageous with your outer gear because if any place will stand for it, it's Sundance. Below, my producer Maya and I give in:
For those of you unfamiliar with the festival, it's held in a tiny, quaint little town that once a year, gets completely overrun by Hollywood for 10 days.
Interviewing Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell for "In Bruges" (in my snowpants!):
Talking to Sarah Jessica Parker on the red carpet for "Smart People:"
Maya and I goofing off on the red carpet:
Just finished interviewing Nick Cannon for his movie "American Son." A few months later he married Mariah Carey. (And yes, the snowpants are still on!)
Making a snow angel:
Here I am with Robert, who was our PA during the festival:
Just your typical mountain view. Gorgeous!
Taking a break on a park bench with a friend:
Maya and I are pretending we're not freezing while posing for this picture. You would not believe how cold it was on that balcony with the winds. We thought our faces were going to fall off!
We don't see these kinds of signs in L.A. Love the little stick figure who's falling down!
Maya, Robert and I go snow tubing:
Goofing off on the lift:
Horsing around:
Weeeeeeeee!!!!!!
Maya is trying to convince me to go down together, chain-link style, but I'm not so sure:
I acquiesce. Our guide shows us how attach ourselves together:
Okay, we're ready! Man, she better not let go of my feet....
Off we go!!!!!
After the last shoot on our last evening, Maya and I took our crew out for a "Yay! We're done!" dinner before heading back to L.A. the next day.
We were truly relieved the whole thing was done and over with. Check out those massive icicles hanging outside the window behind us. And yes, I'm STILL wearing the snowpants!
